Savcor Ballet is a miracle. This small organization, lead by Ulla and Hannu Savisalo, turned small Finnish town (pop. 35 000) to Scandinavian Metropol of Ballet. May I sound weird? But not — actually, that’s the real thing. Starting from 1995, every year, brightest Russian (and other) ballet stars performed at Savcor Ballet Festival in Mikkeli — Maya Plisetskaya, Gediminus Taranda, Nadezda Pavlova, Alexei Ratmansky, Vladimir Malakhov, Zhanna Ayupova, Diana Vishneva, Denia Matvienko, Anastasia Matvienko, Lucia Lacarra, Sabina Yapparova, Irina Perren, Oksana Bondarenko, Svetlana Zakharova….
I got rare opportunity to shoot Savcor Ballet festival in Mikkeli, Mikaeli Hall this year, starring Denis Matvienko and Anastasia Matvienko, Elizaveta Cheprasova, Viktor Ishchuk and Maribor Ballet, performing Don Quixote (3 acts), Paquita and contemporary Radio and Juliet.
In next few weeks I’m going to post photos from these 3 days of most beautiful ballet…
