Victoria Ananyan was born in Jerevan, in Armenia, but trained as a dancer two thousand kilometers away at the Ballet Academy of the Perm State Theatre, in Russia. Alongside the Vaganova Academy and the Bolshoi Ballet School, this is one of the top three Russian dance academies. Following her training, Victoria danced with the Tchaikovsky Perm Ballet for four years, where she reached the rank of principal. She joined the Dutch National Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2007, and was promoted to soloist in 2010. In the 2011-2012 season, she danced in the same rank with San Francisco Ballet.
